Food

Da mangiare in quasi qualunque posto in Grecia, in genere ordino una miriade di questi piatti che arrivano tutti insieme tipo tapas:

Meze (small plates)

Ti prendi 2 di queste con le pite e ci fai la scarpetta.

• Tarassamo salada (consistenza Hummus ma di pesce)

• Salata: tiropita con la feta o con pomodoro (zabono tiropita)

Pita soulaki

In Atene Souvlaki è la pita con dentro varie opzioni:

• Gyros pork or chicken (quello che noi chiamiamo kebab)
• Kebab (non è come quello in Italia, ma carne macinata sullo spiedino)
• Kalamaki (spiedino di carne)

Souvlaki spinti:

• Doppia pita con tirokafterì tra le due pite

Anafiotika Cafe - vai qui per un aperitivo bicchiere di vino e antipasti. Domenica c'e' musica gratis. Location molto bella, qualita' media.
Cinapos - un po' piu' gourmet, chef di Creta. Ordina moussaka, insalata greca come la fanno a creta
Dopios - ordina keftedes (polpette grandi), fava con octopus, kritharoto (risoni con pesce)
O Thanasis - ordina pita souvlaki, porzione kebab, Giaourtlou che e' porzione kebab con yogurt

Places to visit

Visit the center (by anastasia):

• national garden (ethnikos kipos)
• Syntagma square, walking out of the subway you can see the Greek Parliament and go down the High street of ERMOU where you can find many shops. Don’t miss the Profiterol place «Choureal - Choux & Profiterole»_
  At the end of the long  street you will go down to Monastiraki an old area full of young people. You can have the best falafel wrap EVER in “Falafellas” and eat amazing Greek dessert at “ Loukoumades”

You can go for cocktails at: “A for Athens” or “360• view” where you can have the view of Athens.

PLAKA. Ancient vibes are there! I would recommend to go there another day so you can have a morning Greek coffee “elliniko kafe” at “Giasemi” where all the beautiful bars are on stairs under the Parthenon. Go to the Acropolis museum after and visit the Parthenon. You can even have a dinner options at “Anafiotika” the place towards “Giasemi” (all located next to each other).

If you love ancient culture then you could also go to Ancient Agora of Athens.

Port of Piraeus! You can have lovely walks across the port and have fresh fish at the restaurants there!

Usually there many islands for a getaway from Athens that are not far, such as; Hydra, Aegina, Spetses or even Agistri (half an hour from the port of Piraeus).

Another area I really love is Glyfada. Is nearby my home and is next to the sea. There are bars and restaurants literally on the sea! My favourite fish restaurant is called “BlueFish Vouliagmeni” is a bit posh and gourmet style but is worth it if you like treating yourself once in a while.
